چکیده

Background Subendocardial LGE is a marker of ischemic aetiology of left ventricular dysfunction, and of viable myocardium. Using a high relaxivity contrast media such as gadobenate dimeglumine, however, little areas of subendocardial LGE can be masked by the high signal of the blood pool. We halved the optimal TI to null the signal of viable myocardium to obtain LGE images with high signal from viable myocardium, intermediate signal from the blood pool, and no signal from LGE areas, thus enhancing the presence of “hidden areas” subendocardial enhancement.

Inversion time prolongation at late enhancement cardiac MRI in a myeloma patient.

A patient undergoing chemotherapy for multiple myeloma had a sudden onset of heart failure. Cardiac magnetic resonance was performed after echocardiography to rule out myocardial late enhancement, which was not detected. In- terestingly, the inversion time of the T1-weighted inversion recovery late enhancement sequence needed to be significantly increased (from the usual 250-300 to 490 ms) to ...

Performance of t1 and t2 mapping cardiovascular magnetic resonance to detect active myocarditis in patients with recent-onset heart failure.

BACKGROUND This study evaluated the performance of novel quantitative T1 and T2 mapping cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) techniques to identify active myocarditis in patients with recent-onset heart failure. METHODS AND RESULTS Thirty-one consecutive patients with recent-onset heart failure, reduced left ventricular function and clinically suspected myocarditis underwent endomyocardial...

Imaging Role of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance as a Gatekeeper to Invasive Coronary Angiography in Patients Presenting With Heart Failure of Unknown Etiology

Background—In patients presenting with new-onset heart failure of uncertain etiology, the role of coronary angiography (CA) is unclear. Although conventionally performed to differentiate underlying coronary artery disease from dilated cardiomyopathy, CA is associated with a risk of complications and may not detect an ischemic cause resulting from arterial recanalization or an embolic episode. I...

Comparison of image quality and acquistion time of Free-Breathing (FB) motion corrected (MOCO) SSFP to current PSIR sequences: is one sequence superior?

Background Delayed myocardial enhancement (DE) sequences have become essential in cardiac MRI (CMRI) for visualization of abnormal myocardium. DE sequences require an inversion pulse to null normal myocardium, and the introduction of phase-sensitive inversion recovery (PSIR) sequences, which are less sensitive to small variations in inversion time (TI), have provided a suitable alternative to m...
